Aside from watching live television, Aereo allows viewers to pause, rewind and st-forward, like a DVR. Customers dont need a cable subscription,The law online. but pay for membership plans costing $1 a day, $8 a month or $80 a year.
The service is also expanding to the entire New York media market, which includes much of northern New Jersey, Virigina Lam, a spokeswoman for Aereo, told NJ.com.
In addition to the expansion announcement, Aereo revealed that it had secured $38 million in financing to fund its growth.
New York startup Aereo announced Tuesday that it was expanding its service to 22 cities across the country in late spring, after launching in New York in 2012.
Its not all good news for the company, though.
